In the kitchen

A mother and a daughter were in the kitchen washing dishes while the son and father sat in the living room reading.
Suddenly there was the sound of dishes crashing and breaking on the floor.
There was silence.
"It was Mom," said the son finally.
"How do you know?" asked his father.
"Because she isn't saying anything."
